A Letter From “The Gong Man”
My name is C.W. Michael, known to many as The Gong Man.
For nearly a decade I have been immersed in the living language of sound. What began as a profound personal awakening the first time I struck a large gong has become my life’s work: inspiring remembrance of the resonance in all.
I discovered something unexpected on this path - that sound, when used with intention, becomes a gateway to silence. The deepest gongs, the purest crystal bowls, and the most resonant tones do not fill the space… they reveal the profound stillness that was always there beneath the noise of daily life. In the after-vibration of a gong, in the decaying hum of a singing bowl, there is a moment of unmoving stillness, a return to this very moment, the silent core of our being. When “I” gets out of the way, the instruments lead to a sacred silent space.
I don’t just play instruments. In fact it's the instruments that play me, teaching me to listen, deeply, to the way sound moves through space, through the body, and through consciousness. Over the years I’ve mastered a wide range of resonant tools: monumental gongs that can shake loose decades of tension, hand-selected singing bowls and stone instruments whose purity is unmatched, crystal bowls, wind chimes, and finely crafted custom sound sculptures from trusted master makers I collaborate with.
Every space we create begins the same way: we listen to the land, to the intention behind the project, and to the people who will inhabit it. From there we compose design, materials, and instruments as one living instrument, designed not only to look beautiful, but to feel alive with vibration.
Whether building a public Sound Garden where children and adults become instant musicians, designing private sanctuaries, or guiding an intimate sound experience for those seeking deep nervous system tuning, my mission remains constant:
